Baksı Museum is a museum located in Bayburt, Turkey. “Baksı” literally means “healer, helper, protector” in the West Asia. The museum offers contemporary art and traditional handcrafts. The basic aim of the foundation is, as quoted by founder Professor Hüsamettin Koçan, to "disseminate art and culture by bringing together contemporary and traditional art, to collect, document, classify, preserve and promote works of contemporary and traditional art, to use this base in realizing creation, and to hand local and national cultural values down to future generations".Before you head to Bayburt, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Bayburt route planner, to make sure you see all that Bayburt has to offer, including Baksi Museum.
Baksi Museum reviews
This is a must see place, words can not begin to describe this place. I am not artistic person, but the location (totally secluded, far removed even from Bayburt, which is very tiny town 45 km away... more »
This is a museum which is a gem for all the region. Founded by an altruistic art historian as a tribute to his birthplace it contains invaluable ethnographic details. Besides, it is a case of design..... more »
Worth a visit. Stunning view, nice exhibitions and amazingly decorated rooms. If you want to chill from the haste of the city this is where you need to go.
If this is the art of culture and you are curious about it, you can see the bottom of the mountain, even if you see the location of the Baksı Museum. Bayburt Center 45 km away in the village of Bayraktar, the founder of this museum Prof. Dr. Hüsamettin Koçan. He's a peasant, too. The old name of Bayraktar village. Baksı was used in ancient Turkish as a wise person, healer. You come with a difficult way of Bayburt and you can only believe that there is such a museum. The beauty of the Çoruh River and the unique nature landscape is intertwined with modern contemporary art and culture. The museum won the European Council Award for the Year 2014 and the same year the PARLIAMENTARY Honorary award. In 2016, he chose this place for the launch of the Volvo S90. Hüsamettin Koçan won the award-winning Man of the year 2019 of a magazine. The museum also has guest houses. This summer, I would say that the Nuri Bilge Ceylan collection will be exhibited. If we do, it's not just for Bayburt, but for our country. His reputation is rising every day and must be seen.
