Landmark · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Situated at the entrance to the medina, Monument Place de la Kasbah is centered around a tall, concrete monument dedicated to a local martyr who fought against the Spanish colonial rule. The paved esplanade was renovated in 1988--parallel with the opening of the new city hall--and decorated with elegant black lanterns and many flagpoles. Pay attention to the old mosque, which is the only remaining part of the ancient kasbah (citadel). • This is the large square off Place du Government. Not much going on here when we visited but it was the closest place to our accomodation to catch a taxi.  more »

  • This is the most known place in Tunis. I visited it at the sunset and was beautiful. From here it's very simple to go inside the Medina. We arrived from the street of the ministers and we was surprised when arrived in the square because is very flat and big with the big monument in the centre. I recommend to visit it!
