Carthaginian Ruins, Carthage

Soak up the history of one of the ancient world's greatest imperial centers at Carthaginian Ruins, a World Heritage Site. Founded by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BCE, the city served as the capital of the Carthaginian Empire until its destruction by the Romans in 146 BCE. Many of the remains seen today date back to the Roman rule--the bathhouses and amphitheater remain particularly important examples of Roman building. An onsite museum helps to illuminate the complex and important history of the area, and highlight how various conquering nations influenced the city's cultural and artistic heritage. • You have to bring water and a hat, a lot of heat and humidity, at this time the museum is closed for repairs, but you can access the ruins and the church with a deferred payment, in the vicinity is also the amphitheater that has no extra cost.

  • Loved the tour because i was lucky with the guide. Very interesting and informative. I liked that there was a lot of greenery around, the tour took place as in the park, among ancient olives, pomegranate trees and palm trees. We learned the curious facts of history. Too bad there was little time (only half an hour) on self-study of the ruins) Were very pleased
