Get a sense of the local culture at Arlington National Cemetery and Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Discover out-of-the-way places like National Mall and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Old Town, get a sense of history and politics at Smithsonian Institution Building, visit U Street, and get to know the fascinating history of Capitol Hill.
