Harbor City

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Venture out of the city with trips to MyTaiwanTour Travel Services (in Zhongzheng District), Chimei Museum (in Rende) and Vase Rock (in Liuqiu). There's much more to do: view the masterpieces at The Pier-2 Art Centre, get a sense of history and politics at Kaohsiung Main Public Library, take in the pleasant sights at Takao Fishing Port, and don't miss a visit to The Dome of Light.

On the 8th (Tue), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sun Moon Lake Ci-en Pagoda, then explore the activities along Sun Moon Lake, and then explore the striking landscape of Wenwumiaohoushan Park. On the 9th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the awesome beauty at Hutou Mountain, admire the masterpieces at Chung Tai World Museum, and then head outdoors with Dakeng No. 4 Trail.

Traveling by car from Kaohsiung to Nantou takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Kaohsiung in December, things will get a bit cooler in Nantou: highs are around 24°C and lows about 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Wed) to allow time to drive to New Taipei.

Take a break from New Taipei with a short trip to National Palace Museum in Shilin, about 42 minutes away. You can drive from Nantou to New Taipei in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or take a bus. December in New Taipei sees daily highs of 23°C and lows of 18°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
