Straddling the banks of the Eerste River, the university town of Stellenbosch enjoys international fame for its renowned wine estates and gourmet restaurants.
Get out of town with these interesting Stellenbosch side-trips: Franschhoek (Stony Brook Vineyards & First South African Perfume Museum). Dedicate the 6th (Mon) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: learn about winemaking at Waterford Estate, explore the landscape on two wheels at Gspot MTB trails, get engrossed in the history at The Stellenbosch Village Museum, and examine the collection at Franschhoek Motor Museum.

A popular stopover on South Africa's famous Garden Route, Mossel Bay charms tourists with its picturesque sandy shore that stretches along the Indian Ocean, and its pleasant, mild climate.
Get out of town with these interesting Mossel Bay side-trips: Oudtshoorn (St Jude's Anglican Church, Cango Caves, &more), Tiny Shop (in Wilderness) and Knysna (Knysna Elephant Park & Knysna Heads). And it doesn't end there: stroll through Robberg Nature Reserve, do a tasting at Plettenvale Wines, contemplate the long history of Nelson Bay Cave, and take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback.
