Pavia is a town and comune of south-western Lombardy, northern Italy, 35km south of Milan on the lower Ticino river near its confluence with the Po. Get out of town with these interesting Pavia side-trips: Alba (Centro Storico & Langhe landscapes UNESCO), Castello di Grinzane Cavour (in Grinzane Cavour) and Cremona (Cathedral of Cremona & Museo del Violino). And it doesn't end there: take in the views from Ponte Coperto, steep yourself in history at La Bollente, step into the grandiose world of Castello di Rivalta, and pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica San Michele Maggiore.

For maps, other places to visit, more things to do, and other tourist information, refer to the Pavia travel itinerary planner.

In October, daytime highs in Pavia are 21°C, while nighttime lows are 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
