Omegna

— 8 nights
Omegna is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 100km northeast of Turin and about 13km southwest of Verbania at the northernmost point of Lago d’Orta and traversed by the Nigoglia, the lake's sole outflow.HistoryThe presence of ancient settlement in the area has been proved by excavations held in the frazione of Cireggio, archaeological findings dating from the late Bronze and Iron Ages. Get out of town with these interesting Omegna side-trips: Santuario Della Madonna delle Grazie di San Martino (in Griante), Museo Etnografico E Naturalistico Val Sanagra (in Grandola ed Uniti) and Santuario Madonna del Soccorso (in Ossuccio). And it doesn't end there: examine the collection at Forte di Bard, contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Orta, take in the spiritual surroundings of Certosa di Pavia, and admire the striking features of Villa del Balbianello.
