Route & dates

— 8 nights

Admire the temples and shrines of Kurume, a small, compact town situated on the Chikushi Plain, known for its local products, such as an indigo woven fabric, bamboo lacquerware, and pork ramen.
Venture out of the city with trips to Takeo (Takeo no Okusu & Takeo City Library), Shirakawa Springs (in Minamiaso-mura) and Sasebo (Huis Ten Bosch, Ishidake Observatory, &more). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Ishibashi Bunka Center, admire the natural beauty at Kurume Tsubaki Park, admire the masterpieces at Ishibashi Cultural Center, and learn about winemaking at Kyoho Winery.

To see photos, reviews, ratings, and other tourist information, you can read our Kurume sightseeing planner.

If you are flying in from Ecuador, the closest major aiports are Fukuoka Airport, Kagoshima Airport and Hiroshima Airport. In May, daily temperatures in Kurume can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
