The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
Casa Santo Domingo Museums and Iglesia de La Merced are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Venture out of the city with trips to Guatemala City (Catedral Metropolitana & Palacio Nacional). There's lots more to do: get impressive views of Volcán Pacaya, explore the ancient world of Arco de Santa Catalina, see the interesting displays at ChocoMuseo, and stop by Joyeria C'Santos Antigua.

Montreal, Canada to Antigua is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Montreal to Antigua. Traveling from Montreal in March, things will get much hotter in Antigua: highs are around 30°C and lows about 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Fri) early enough to travel to Tikal National Park.

San Agustín Lanquín, often referred to simply as Lanquín, is a municipality in the Guatemalan department of Alta Verapaz. Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Mon): explore the fascinating underground world of Lanquin Caves, then take in the dramatic scenery at Monumento Natural Semuc Champey, and then explore the wealth of natural beauty at Parque Nacional Grutas de Lanquin.

Take a shuttle from Peten to Lanquin in 7.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In March, plan for daily highs up to 40°C, and evening lows to 25°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Mon) to allow time to drive to Chichicastenango.

Sitting in a scenic spot among towering mountains, Chichicastenango has a large indigenous population and displays its cultural heritage in a burst of color when hosting its long-established market.
Kick off your visit on the 24th (Tue): identify plant and animal life at Parque Ecologico Los Senderos del Abuelo, then contemplate the long history of Pascual Abaj, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Chichi Cemetery, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Santo Tomas Church.

Traveling by car from Lanquin to Chichicastenango takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of shuttle and bus. Expect cooler temperatures when traveling from Lanquin in March; daily highs in Chichicastenango reach 26°C and lows reach 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
