New Haven, in the U.S. state of Connecticut, is the principal municipality in Greater New Haven, which had a total population of 862,477 in 2010. Take a break from the city and head to Hammonasset Beach State Park and Sleeping Giant State Park. Get a sense of the local culture at The Mark Twain House & Museum and Paradise Hills Vineyard. Explore New Haven's surroundings by going to Real Art Ways (in Hartford), Brookfield (Gurski Farm- Williams Park & DiGrazia Winery) and Elizabeth Park (in West Hartford). There's still lots to do: learn about winemaking at White Silo Farm & Winery, tee off at Great River Golf Club, take in the views from Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge, and kick back and relax at Sasco Beach.

Tampa to New Haven is an approximately 7-hour combination of flight and train. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Tampa in September: high temperatures in New Haven hover around 77°F and lows are around 59°F.
