Located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., the county of Arlington blends big city and sprawling suburban environments.
Get out of town with these interesting Arlington side-trips: Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (in Chantilly), George Washington's Mount Vernon (in Mount Vernon) and National Museum of the Marine Corps (in Triangle). There's much more to do: explore the different monuments and memorials at Arlington National Cemetery, wander the streets of Old Town, pause for some photo ops at Air Force Memorial, and get to know the fascinating history of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Holding a record for the longest pleasure beach in the world, Virginia Beach showcases 35 miles of coastline and maintains a longstanding reputation as a family-friendly vacation destination.
On the 9th (Tue), take in the pleasant sights at King Neptune Statue on the Boardwalk, then sample the fine beverages at Tarnished Truth Distilling Company, then stroll through Virginia Beach, and finally take in the waterfront at Virginia Beach Boardwalk. On your second day here, meet the residents at Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, then learn about all things military at Military Aviation Museum, and then take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports.

Founded in 1632 as a fortified settlement on the high ground between two rivers, Williamsburg served as a colonial capital of Virginia for over 80 years.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Thu): step aboard Jamestown Settlement, then browse the exhibits of Historic Jamestowne, and then look for gifts at The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg. On the 12th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: browse the exhibits of Colonial Williamsburg, steep yourself in history at Governor's Palace, and then pause for some serene contemplation at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.
