The cultural, economic, and political center of the country, Vienna has developed from its early Celtic and Roman roots into a medieval and Baroque city, with an old town that was designated a World Heritage Site in 2001.

If you are flying in from Turkey, the closest major aiport is Vienna International Airport. In June, plan for daily highs up to 29°C, and evening lows to 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Hallstatt.

Historically known for the production of salt, Halstatt's fine architecture reflects the small village's salt mining legacy.

Kick off your visit on the 21st (Sun): take in the pleasant sights at Old Town, see the interesting displays at Museum Hallstatt, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Badestrand Hallstatt. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the dramatic scenery at Gollinger Wasserfall, fly down the slopes at Karkogel, then contemplate the waterfront views at Hallstatter See, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Hallstatt Skywalk "Welterbeblick".

Traveling by car from Vienna to Hallstatt takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. On the 23rd (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
