One of the largest and oldest cities in Central Asia, Tashkent combines layers of history and a bustling modern edge.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): admire the striking features of Ensemble Hazrati Imam, then take an in-depth tour of State Museum "In Memory of the Victims of Repression", then pause for some serene contemplation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Holy Assumption Cathedral.

Start off your visit on the 3rd (Fri): contemplate the long history of Shah-i-Zinda, explore the world behind art at Imam Bokhari Mausoleum, then see the interesting displays at Regional Studies Museum, and finally stroll the grounds of Gur Emir Mausoleum.

Traveling by flight from Tashkent to Samarkand takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. In April in Samarkand, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 10°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Shahrisabz.
