Gateway to the Yeongnam Alps

A powerhouse of industry not just for South Korea but the world, Ulsan offers up a thriving metropolis dominated by trade but interspersed with some undisturbed scenery.
On the 8th (Sat), identify plant and animal life at Ulsan Theme Botanic Garden, walk around Taehwagang National Garden, and then walk around Ulsan Grand Park.

The fourth-largest city in South Korea, Daegu sprawls out across a wide, flat valley overlooked by a sacred Buddhist mountain.
You've now added Gyeongju National Park to your itinerary. Kick off your visit on the 9th (Sun): explore the striking landscape of Gyeongju National Park. On your second day here, browse the eclectic array of goods at Daegu Oriental Medicine Market, take a peaceful walk through Daegu Arboretum, and then stroll around Gukchaebosang Memorial Park.

You can take a train from Ulsan to Daegu in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Ulsan in May, plan for warmer days and about the same nights in Daegu: temperatures range from 32°C by day to 17°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Daegu.
