Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Fri): enjoy the sand and surf at Naminoue Beach, don't miss a visit to Shurikinjocho Oakagi Tree, explore the historical opulence of Shurijo Castle, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Amagoi Utaki, then appreciate the views at Valley of Gangala, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Clara Church.

You can fly from Naha to Miyakojima in 2.5 hours. In January, plan for daily highs up to 24°C, and evening lows to 19°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 15th (Sat) so you can catch the flight to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki
