The Ardennes travel guide
One of Europe's last truly unspoiled natural areas, the Ardennes offers visitors lush greenery. A region of wooded hills and low mountains, this verdant corner of southeastern Belgium continues to welcome mostly Flemish and Dutch cyclists and motorists, drawn largely by the land's gentle topography. A lack of tourist crowds means that you can take the time to explore the region's caves, forested hills, rich river valleys, and small villages at your own unhurried pace. Made for active holidays, the region lets you split your time between fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, and hiking. If you prefer a calmer vacation, head to Spa--the original spa town.
