City of Eternal Spring

As one of Tenerife’s oldest port cities, Puerto de la Cruz embodies a hip, island personality, while still retaining its historic fishing village charm.
Relax by the water at Playa de Benijo and Piscinas Naturales El Caleton. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at La Ranilla Espacio Artesano and Mercado Municipal de San Cristobal de la Laguna. Venture out of the city with trips to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Finca Canarias Aloe Vera, Playa de las Teresitas, &more), Icod de los Vinos (Cueva del Viento & ARTlandya) and Charco del Viento (in La Guancha). Next up on the itinerary: get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Loro Parque, pick up some local products at Mercado de Tegueste, enjoy the sand and surf at Playa El Bollullo, and stroll through Playa de Rojas.

Tenerife is the largest and most populous of the seven Canary Islands. With its abundance of sun-warmed beaches, deep gorges, dramatic cliffs, dense forests, and lush valleys filled with thriving banana plantations, the island offers an impressive variety of things to do: snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing, hiking, and cycling. You can even spelunk in the island’s volcanic caves and tunnels, among the largest in the world. Tenerife is also known for its nightlife, attracting thousands of weekend revelers from nearby European countries. The island is highly urbanized, though there are still pockets where visitors can enjoy the distinctive local culture and sightseeing at a slower pace.
