Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.

Change things up with these side-trips from Hobart: Raspins Beach (in Orford), Opossum Bay Beach (in Opossum Bay) and Okines Beach (in Dodges Ferry). There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, tour the pleasant surroundings at Seven Mile Beach, and kick back and relax at Nutgrove Beach.
