Harbor City

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Sun): make a trip to Dragon Tiger Tower and then get a sense of history and politics at Kaohsiung Main Public Library. On the 4th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Hong Lou At Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Senior High School, stroll around Xiziwan, then view the masterpieces at The Pier-2 Art Centre, then head outdoors with Ai He (Love River), and finally don't miss a visit to The Dome of Light.

Start off your visit on the 5th (Tue): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Jinlong Mountain and then explore the activities along Sun Moon Lake.

Traveling by car from Kaohsiung to Nantou takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. Expect little chillier temperatures when traveling from Kaohsiung in January; daily highs in Nantou reach 22°C and lows reach 14°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Tue) so you can go by car to Taipei.

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
