Zermatt

Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.
Kick off your visit on the 16th (Thu): explore the different monuments and memorials at Mountaineers' Cemetery, examine the collection at Matterhorn Museum - Zermatlantis, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at The Matterhorn, and finally trek along 5-Seenweg. Keep things going the next day: get great views at Gornergrat, fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and then enjoy breathtaking views from Sunnegga.

Edinburgh, UK to Zermatt is an approximately 9-hour combination of flight and train. You can also do a combination of flight, shuttle, and train; or take a train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Edinburgh to Zermatt. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Fri) early enough to take a train to Interlaken.
