Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Get outdoors at Morar Beach and Steall Waterfall. Fort Augustus Abbey and Glenfinnan Viaduct will appeal to history buffs. When in Fort William, make a side trip to see McCaig's Tower in Oban, approximately 1h 10 min away. And it doesn't end there: admire the verdant scenery at Glen Coe, take in the awesome beauty at Ben Nevis, appreciate the history behind Commando Monument, and examine the collection at West Highland Museum.
