Get outdoors at Loch Garten Nature Reserve and Cairngorm Reindeer Centre. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Clava Cairns and Culloden Battlefield. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Inverness: Dunrobin Castle and Gardens (in Golspie), Dornoch Beach (in Dornoch) and RZSS Highland Wildlife Park (in Kingussie). Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Get outdoors at Morar Beach and Steall Waterfall. Fort Augustus Abbey and Glenfinnan Viaduct will appeal to history buffs. When in Fort William, make a side trip to see McCaig's Tower in Oban, approximately 1h 10 min away. And it doesn't end there: admire the verdant scenery at Glen Coe, take in the awesome beauty at Ben Nevis, appreciate the history behind Commando Monument, and examine the collection at West Highland Museum.

Pitlochry is a burgh in the county of Perthshire in Scotland, lying on the River Tummel. Kick off your visit on the 21st (Fri): sample the fine beverages at Edradour Distillery, steep yourself in history at The Scottish Crannog Centre, and then brush up on your knowledge of spirits at The Glenturret Distillery. Keep things going the next day: take in nature's colorful creations at Blair Castle and Hercules Gardens and then sample the fine beverages at Dalwhinnie Distillery.
