Known for its prime north coast location and elegant city center, Santander remains the central destination for tourism and commerce in the whole Cantabrian region.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Parque de Cabo Mayor and Refugio Antiaereo. You'll get in some beach time at Playa del Sable and Playa de El Puntal. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Santander: Iglesia de Santa Maria (in Castro Urdiales), Playa de Ris (in Noja) and Plaza Mayor de Ramon y Pelayo (in Santillana del Mar). There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Museo de Prehistoria y Arqueologia de Cantabria, steep yourself in history at Muralla de Santander, don't miss a visit to Plaza Porticada, and stroll through Playa Somo.

Madrid to Santander is an approximately 4.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or take a train. Traveling from Madrid in August, expect Santander to be little chillier, temps between 26°C and 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Wed) so you can drive to Oviedo.

Start off your visit on the 15th (Thu): wander the streets of Casco Antiguo, admire the masterpieces at Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, then get to know the fascinating history of Plaza Porlier, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at San Julian de los Prados, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at La Iglesia de San Juan el Real.

A Coruña is a city and municipality of Galicia, Spain. Start off your visit on the 16th (Fri): learn about all things military at Museo Naval, enjoy the sand and surf at Playa de Morazon, then examine the collection at Castle of San Anton, then steep yourself in history at Casa de las Ciencias, and finally contemplate the long history of Caaveiro Monastery. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Parroquia de Santiago, learn about all things military at Museo Militare Regionale, and then kick back and relax at Playa de Santa Cristina.
