The first Spanish city established in an area now controlled by Peru, Piura was founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1532.
Venture out of the city with trips to Iglesia San Lucas (in Colan) and Museo Elba Aranda de Sarango (in Paita). Next up on the itinerary: stroll through Nadando con Tortugas en El Nuro, make a trip to Universidad de Piura, kick back and relax at Playa Vichayito, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia San Francisco.

Founded in 1532, Tumbes occupies one of the greener areas of coastal Peru.
Tumbes is known for parks, nature, and historic sites. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: tour the pleasant surroundings at Los Manglares de Puerto Pizarro, contemplate the long history of Complejo Arqueologico Cabeza de Vaca, explore the striking landscape of Santuario Nacional Manglares de Tumbes, and head off the coast to La Isla Hueso de Ballena.
