A small community of about 1,200 people, Palm Cove sits beside the clear blue waters of the South Pacific.
Step off the beaten path and head to Birdworld Kuranda and Yorkeys Knob Beach. Get in touch with nature at Four Mile Beach and Skypark by AJ Hackett Cairns. When in Palm Cove, make a side trip to see Opal Reef in Port Douglas, approximately Port Douglas away. The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at Trinity Beach, look for gifts at Annie's at the Beach, relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas, and take some stellar pictures from Rex Lookout.

The Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Step off the beaten path and head to Etty Bay and Josephine Falls. Get in touch with nature at Dolphin & Whale Watching and Crystal Cascades. When in Cairns, make a side trip to see Mulgrave Settlers Museum in Gordonvale, approximately Gordonvale away. Spend the 4th (Thu) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's much more to do: cross one thing off your bucket list with a skydiving experience, admire the landmark architecture of Freshwater Station, take in the pleasant sights at Red Arrow Walk, and browse the exhibits of Doongal Aboriginal Art Gallery Cairns.
