First Akmola, then Tselinograd, and now Astana: the city's latest name means "capital," something Astana became in 1998.
Take a break from Nur-Sultan with a short trip to Alzhir, Memorial Museum of Victims of Political Repressions and Totalitarianism in Malinovka, about 46 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hazret Sultan Mosque, make a splash at Family Rest Center Ailand, pause for some photo ops at Monument Kazakh Eli, and buy something for everyone on your list at Khan Shatyr.

To see where to stay, other places to visit, photos, and other tourist information, use the Nur-Sultan vacation planner.

If you are flying in from Czech Republic, the closest major aiport is Astana International Airport. In June, daytime highs in Nur-Sultan are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 15°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
