Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Relax by the water at Praia Do Labrego and Matosinhos Beach. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Ponte de Dom Luis I and Cais da Ribeira. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Porto: Praia da Costa Nova (in Gafanha da Encarnacao), Aveiro (Convento de Santo Antonio Church & Carmo Church) and Praia Fluvial de Burgaes (in Vale de Cambra). There's still lots to do: take in the local highlights with Walking tours, enjoy the sand and surf at Praia da Baia, stroll through Praia de Espinho, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral).
