Gateway to the West

A major transportation hub, Omaha was once considered little more than a stopping point on a pioneer's journey west.
Bring the kids along to Henry Doorly Zoo and Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. Detroit to Omaha is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. You'll gain 1 hour traveling from Detroit to Omaha due to the time zone difference. Lincoln

Lincoln is the capital of the U.S. state of Nebraska and the county seat of Lancaster County. Attractions like Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum and Sunken Gardens make great kid-friendly stops. Step out of Lincoln to go to Ashland and see Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, which is approximately 32 minutes away. The adventure continues: ponder the world of politics at Nebraska State Capitol, meet the residents at Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari, have fun and explore at Lincoln Children's Museum, and get to know the resident critters at Lincoln Children's Zoo.
