The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Nagasaki: Amakusa (Kigaigaura Observation Deck & Dolphin & Whale Watching), Unzen (Obama Onsen Carbonated Spring & Unzen Jigoku (Unzen Hell)) and Huis Ten Bosch (in Sasebo). Next up on the itinerary: take in nature's colorful creations at Glover Garden, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ōura Church, see the interesting displays at Dejima, and get outside with Takahama Beach.

To find ratings, photos, traveler tips, and tourist information, go to the Nagasaki day trip planning site.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Fukuoka Airport and Kagoshima Airport. In July in Nagasaki, expect temperatures between °F during the day and °F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
