Located at the confluence of the Moselle and the Seille rivers bordering Luxembourg and Germany, Metz has a cultural confluence as well with a merging of its French and German heritage and military traditions.
Get out of town with these interesting Metz side-trips: Nancy (Parc de la Pepiniere, Place Stanislas, &more), Porte Chaussee (in Verdun) and La Tranchee de Chattancourt (in Chattancourt). There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Œuvre de la cathédrale, make a trip to Gare de Metz-Ville, meet the residents at Parc Animalier de Sainte-Croix, and steep yourself in history at Palais du Tau.

For more things to do, where to stay, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Metz day trip site.

If you are flying in from United Arab Emirates, the closest major aiport is Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Airport. In March, plan for daily highs up to 11°C, and evening lows to 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
