Colombia's heart and soul, Bogota has earned the nickname "Athens of South America" thanks to its abundance of universities, libraries, and lower-level schools.
Get some cultural insight at Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) and Catedral de Sal de Zipaquira. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Bolivar Square and Museo Santa Clara. Change things up with these side-trips from Bogota: Ermita de Santa Barbara (in Tabio) and Catedral Diocesana (in Zipaquira). There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at Museo Botero del Banco de la Republica, examine the collection at Museo Nacional de Colombia, wander the streets of Barrio La Candelaria, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Monserrate.

You can fly from Medellin to Bogota in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Medellin in April, things will get little chillier in Bogota: highs are around 22°C and lows about 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Mon) so you can travel back home.
