A city of 40,000 people, Ancud was the capital of Chiloe Archipelago until it was superseded by the city of Castro in 1982.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Fri): examine the collection at Museo Regional de Ancud, head outdoors with Pinguineras, and then identify plant and animal life at Chiloe Island Penguin Colony. On the 23rd (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: expand your understanding of the military at Fuerte Ahui and then step off the mainland to explore Isla Aucar.
