Launceston

— 7 nights

The Heart of Tasmania

Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ben Lomond Ski Resort and Deloraine & Districts Folk Museum. Explore Launceston's surroundings by going to Yarns Artwork in Silk (in Deloraine), Sidmouth (Swinging Gate Vineyard, Batman Bridge, &more) and Mt George Lookout (in George Town). Dedicate the 18th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. The adventure continues: admire the striking features of Franklin House, learn about winemaking at Tamar Ridge Cellar Door, see the interesting displays at Launceston Tramway Museum, and walk around City Park.

In June, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 3°C.
