Kotohira-cho

— 7 nights
Known only for being the home of the Kompirasan Shrine Complex, the tiny town of Kotohira-cho remains a popular day trip destination from larger nearby cities.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kotohira-cho: Zentsu-ji Temple (in Zentsuji), Sanuki Manno Park (in Manno-cho) and Miyoshi (Iya Kazura Bridge, Biwa Waterfall, &more). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Kotohira-gu, step off the mainland to explore Okunoshima Island, sample the tasty concoctions at Kinryonosato, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Kosanji Temple.

To see maps, other places to visit, more things to do, and tourist information, you can read our Kotohira-cho trip itinerary builder site.

If you are flying in from Mongolia, the closest major aiports are Takamatsu Airport, Okayama Momotaro Airport and Hiroshima Airport. In October, plan for daily highs up to 24°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
