The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Thu): let little ones run wild at Ohori Park, go for a walk through Fukuoka Tower, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Temmangu, then take in panoramic vistas at Komenoyama Obsevatory, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kushida Shrine, and finally buy something for everyone on your list at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center. On the 1st (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tenkai Inari Shrine, then admire the natural beauty at Komyozen-ji Temple, then admire the striking features of Hakata Station, and finally explore the world behind art at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.

Boracay, Philippines to Fukuoka is an approximately 8.5-hour combination of ferry and flight. You can also do a combination of ferry, bus, and flight. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Boracay to Fukuoka due to the time zone difference. When traveling from Boracay in April, plan for a bit cooler days in Fukuoka, with highs around 23°C, while nights are cooler with lows around 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Fri) so you can travel to Matsue.

Start off your visit on the 2nd (Sat): admire the natural beauty at Yuushien Garden, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Rokusho Shrine, explore the world behind art at Adachi Museum of Art, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Yaegaki Shrine, and finally admire the masterpieces at Shimane Art Museum. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun): get all the information you need at Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo, then explore the activities along Shinji Lake, and then contemplate the long history of Matsue Castle.

You can do a combination of flight and taxi from Fukuoka to Matsue in 3.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a train. In May, plan for daily highs up to 27°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sun) so you can go by car to Hiroshima.
