Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.

Venture out of the city with trips to Colorado Springs (National Museum of World War II Aviation & Garden of the Gods), North Pole Colorado Santa’s Workshop (in Cascade) and Estes Park (Estes Park Guided Tours, Off-Road Tours, &more). Pack the 27th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. There's still lots to do: explore the world behind art at Denver Art Museum, cruise along Guanella Pass, get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo, and explore the activities along Bear Lake.
