Packed with impressive colonial architecture and a historic town center, Cuenca stands as perhaps the most charming city in the nation.
Head to Eduardo Vega Galeria Taller and Art Cuencafor some retail therapy. Popular historic sites such as El Carmen de la Asuncion Church and Iglesia de Santo Domingo are in your itinerary. Venture out of the city with trips to El Chorro Waterfall (in Giron), Ingapirca (Ingapirca Ruins & Ingapirca Archaeological Complex) and Parque Chordeleg (in Chordeleg). Spend the 12th (Fri) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's lots more to do: explore the striking landscape of El Cajas National Park, examine the collection at Museo Remigio Crespo Toral, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepcion, and look for gifts at Galapagos Artesanias.

In July in Cuenca, expect temperatures between 68°F during the day and 50°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
