Heraklion

— 7 nights
Crete's largest city, Heraklion remains best known for its proximity to a sprawling Bronze Age archaeological site, once the center of a vanished Minoan civilization.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Heraklion: Melidoni (Reptisland & Melidoni Cave), Palace of Faistos (in Sivas) and Karavostasi Beach (in Bali). There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at Heraklion Archaeological Museum, ponder the design of Morosini Fountain (Lion's Fountain), relax and rejuvenate at Aegeo Spas, and kick back and relax at Matala Beach.

To find other places to visit, photos, traveler tips, and other tourist information, refer to the Heraklion trip itinerary builder app.

Krakow, Poland to Heraklion is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Krakow to Heraklion. In July, Heraklion is a bit warmer than Krakow - with highs of 34°C and lows of 26°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 13th (Tue) early enough to catch the flight back home.

Great Island
The largest of the Greek islands, Crete offers travelers more than just sun, sea, and sand. Famed for its warm hospitality, outstanding infrastructure, and contrasting landscapes, the island represents one of the world's richest areas in terms of history and culture. Crete burst onto the world scene over 4,000 years ago, when it served as the center of the Minoan civilization, one of Europe's earliest organized societies. Despite the island's wealth of developed beaches, the traces of the mysterious and enchanting Minoan empire remain Crete's top attraction, drawing visitors fromĀ all over the world. The island capital Heraklion provides an ideal base for exploring a renowned Minoan palace complex, the site of Europe's oldest city.
