Heraklion

— 7 nights
Crete's largest city, Heraklion remains best known for its proximity to a sprawling Bronze Age archaeological site, once the center of a vanished Minoan civilization.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Heraklion: Melidoni (Reptisland & Melidoni Cave), Karavostasi Beach (in Bali) and Palace of Faistos (in Sivas). The adventure continues: take an in-depth tour of Heraklion Archaeological Museum, ponder the design of Morosini Fountain (Lion's Fountain), enjoy the sand and surf at Matala Beach, and explore the ancient world of The Palace of Knossos.

To find ratings, other places to visit, more things to do, and more tourist information, read Heraklion trip planning app.

Krakow, Poland to Heraklion is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or take a bus. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Eastern European Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Krakow in July, things will get somewhat warmer in Heraklion: highs are around 34°C and lows about 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 13th (Tue) to allow enough time to fly back home.

Great Island
The largest of the Greek islands, Crete offers travelers more than just sun, sea, and sand. Famed for its warm hospitality, outstanding infrastructure, and contrasting landscapes, the island represents one of the world's richest areas in terms of history and culture. Crete burst onto the world scene over 4,000 years ago, when it served as the center of the Minoan civilization, one of Europe's earliest organized societies. Despite the island's wealth of developed beaches, the traces of the mysterious and enchanting Minoan empire remain Crete's top attraction, drawing visitors fromĀ all over the world. The island capital Heraklion provides an ideal base for exploring a renowned Minoan palace complex, the site of Europe's oldest city.
