A center of political power during the feudal era, Hirosaki today stands as a hub of culture and history in the north of the island.

Change things up with a short trip to Ajiga Sawa Sumo Museum Mainoumi Furusato Sajiki in Ajigasawa-machi (about 1h 5 min away). There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Mt. Iwaki Lifts, explore the historical opulence of Hirosaki Castle, stroll around Hirosaki Park, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Choshoji Temple.
