Anzio is a city and comune on the coast of the Lazio region of Italy, about 51km south of Rome.Well known for its seaside harbour setting, it is a fishing port and a departure point for ferries and hydroplanes to the Pontine Islands of Ponza, Palmarola and Ventotene. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Anzio: Sanctuary of Giove Anxur (in Terracina), Grotte di Falvaterra (in Falvaterra) and Latina (Lago di Fogliano & Palmarola). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Giardino di Ninfa, stroll the grounds of Beach Head War Cemetery, explore the historical opulence of Castello Caetani, and find something for the whole family at Zoomarine.

To see maps, where to stay, more things to do, and other tourist information, read Anzio trip planner.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major airports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport. In April, daily temperatures in Anzio can reach 24°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
