Officially an administrative district of Santarem, and unofficially the town's main selling point, Alter do Chao lies 33 km (21 mi) west of the town center.We've included these beaches for you: Alter do Chao Beach and Ponta do Mureta. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Museu Dica Frazao and Rio Tapajos Shopping. Explore Alter do Chao's surroundings by going to Santarem (Pajucara Beach, Joao Fona Cultural Center, &more) and Belterra Plantation (in Belterra).
