Tournai, known in Dutch as Doornik and historically as Dornick in English, is a Walloon municipality of Belgium, 85km southwest of Brussels on the river Scheldt. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at WW1 Battlefields Alive and Archertype. Explore Tournai's surroundings by going to Basilique Saint-Materne (in Walcourt), Le Fondry des Chiens (in Nismes) and Brasserie des Fagnes - Fabrication de Bieres Speciales (in Mariembourg). The adventure continues: take in the pleasant sights at Grand Place, see the interesting displays at Tresor d'Hugo d'Oignies, take in the waterfront at Site du Paradis, and get your game on at European Flight Simulator.

For more things to do, other places to visit, traveler tips, and tourist information, you can read our Tournai trip planner.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiports are Brussels Airport, Ostend-Bruges International Airport, Brussels South Charleroi Airport and Antwerp International Airport (Deurne). In June, plan for daily highs up to 24°C, and evening lows to 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Sun) to allow time to travel back home.
