Human history and nature combine seamlessly in Sendai, with the influence of each never far away in this green and storied city.
Kick off your visit on the 5th (Thu): make a trip to Ruins of the Great East Japan Earthquake Sedai Arahama Elementary School, make a trip to Sendai Station, take an in-depth tour of Zuihoden, steep yourself in history at Sendaijo Ato, then contemplate the long history of Osaki Hachiman Shrine, and finally don't miss a visit to Jozenji-dori Avenue.

Manila, Philippines to Sendai is an approximately 10.5- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. It takes just over one hour to reach Yuzawa-machi from the country's capital by bullet train.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Fri): fly down the slopes at Kagura Ski Resort, don't miss a visit to Ponshukan, then hit the slopes at Iwappara Ski Resort, then hit the slopes at Naeba Ski Resort, and finally get outside with Mt.Tairatsupyo.

Traveling by train from Sendai to Yuzawa-machi takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Matsumoto.

A castle town, Matsumoto possesses one of the best-preserved feudal structures in the country, and maintains its historical attractions and traditions while simultaneously exuding a modern, cosmopolitan charm.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Matsumoto: Hakuba-mura (Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park & Hakuba Happoone Ski Resort), Nozawaonsen-mura (Thermal Spas & Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort) and Zenko-ji Temple (in Nagano). There's lots more to do: step into the grandiose world of Matsumoto Castle, stroll around Takato Castle Remains Park, buy something for everyone on your list at Karuizawa prince shopping plaza, and pause for some photo ops at Stone Church.

Traveling by car from Yuzawa-machi to Matsumoto takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of car and bus. In March, plan for daily highs up to 11°C, and evening lows to 3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 10th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
