Best known as home the Matterhorn mountain, Zermatt serves as a chic ski resort town of the Swiss Alps.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Zermatt: Baroque Church (in Saas-Balen) and Saas-Fee (Ice Pavilion, Saas Fee Ski Resort, &more). Next up on the itinerary: take in the awesome beauty at The Matterhorn, get great views at Gornergrat, stroll through Trockener Steg, and pause for some serene contemplation at Intercontinental Church Society.

Kick off your visit on the 11th (Thu): don't miss a visit to Piazza della Riforma, then stroll around Parco Ciani, then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Lugano, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Monte San Salvatore.

You can do a combination of car and ferry from Zermatt to Lugano in 4.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of train and tram.
