One of the most scenic beach resorts in Sri Lanka, Hikkaduwa features a number of long white sand beaches with palm trees and gentle waves.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hikkaduwa: Bentota (Sea Turtle Protection Association & Bentota Beach), Unawatuna (Japanese Peace Pagoda & Jungle Beach) and Galle (Dutch Reformed Church & Galle Fort). There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Hikkaduwa Beach, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kowilawatta Temple, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Turtle Hatchery Hikkaduwa.
