Palm-fringed beaches with golden sand, turquoise water, and a colorful coral reef are enough to draw any beachgoer to Unawatuna, but there's plenty to do off the beach here as well.
Venture out of the city with trips to Mirissa (Mirissa Beach & Dolphin & Whale Watching). There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Jungle Beach, contemplate the long history of Galle Fort, take in the exciting artwork at EXOTIC ROOTS, and stop by White Boat.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Tissamaharama to Unawatuna in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of taxi and train. In February, daily temperatures in Unawatuna can reach 37°C, while at night they dip to 27°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Fri) early enough to catch the bus to Balapitiya.
