Santa Cruz

— 6 nights
Santa Cruz remains synonymous with surfing, but this counterculture bastion offers plenty even if you don't plan to catch any waves.
Step out of the city life by going to Point Lobos and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Do your shopping at The Cheese Shop and Pacific Grove Certified Farmers' Market. Get out of town with these interesting Santa Cruz side-trips: Hanuman Yoga Retreat (in Saratoga), Carmel (China Cove and Gibson Beach, Carmel River State Beach, &more) and Monterey (Old Fisherman's Wharf, Monterey Bay Food Tours, &more). Next up on the itinerary: immerse yourself in nature at Asilomar State Beach, do a tasting at Beauregard Vineyard, enjoy the sand and surf at Pleasure Point Beach, and tee off at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
