Oviedo is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain and the administrative and commercial centre of the region. Step off the beaten path and head to Museum of Mining and Industry and Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias. Your inner history buff will appreciate San Julian de los Prados and Santa Maria de Leon Cathedral. Get out of town with these interesting Oviedo side-trips: Desfiladero Les Xanes (in Villanueva De Santo Adriano), MUSI Museo de la Siderurgia (in Langreo) and Leon (Museo Panteon San Isidoro de Leon, Centro de Interpretacion Del Leon Romano, & more). Start off your visit on the 7th (Tue): visit a coastal fixture at Faro de Cabo Penas, then visit a coastal fixture at Faro Vidio, then pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Santo Tomas de Canterbury, and finally examine the collection at Ecomuseo Minero Valle de Samuno.
