Holiday in Willington to discover a charming coastal city filled with azalea gardens, historical neighborhoods, and cozy cafes.
On the 27th (Sun), stroll through Holden Beach. Keep things going the next day: do a tasting at Duplin Winery, then get a taste of the local shopping with Franklin Square Gallery, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Trinity United Methodist Church, and finally steep yourself in history at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area.

You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and Frisco Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve. Get out of town with these interesting Manteo side-trips: Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum (in Rodanthe) and Historic Edenton State Historic Site (in Edenton).
